چکیده

With rapidly increasing herd sizes, focus on contagious udder pathogens becomes important. Based on a yearly test of bulk tank milk in Danish dairy herds, the prevalence of herds infected with Streptococcus agalactiae (S. agalactiae) increased from 2 % in 2000 to 7 % in 2010, while approximately 90 % of the herds were positive for Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) (Katholm, et al., 2012). The reemergence of S. agalactiae raises concerns. Early and valid diagnosis is necessary to control the spread of contagious mastitis pathogens within herds. Since 2009 the real-time PathoProofTM Mastitis PCR Assay is routinely used, mainly on composite samples taken non-aseptically at milk recording from individual cows pre dry-off or from whole herd screenings.

Staphylococcus Aureus Mastitis: What We Need to Know to Control Them

INTRODUCTION Among bacteria causing mastitis, only Streptococcus agalactiae, Staphylococcus aureus, Mycoplasma species, and Corynebacterium bovis are considered as fully contagious. Among these, S.aureus, is currently the most frequently isolated contagious pathogen in subclinical and chronic bovine mastitis worldwide (1). The reasons for the large spread of S.aureus intramammary infections (IM...

Association between teat skin colonization and intramammary infections with Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus agalactiae

Introduction and Objective Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus agalactiae are traditionally considered contagious mastitis pathogens mainly causing subclinical infections in dairy cattle. The consequences of subclinical mastitis are economic losses to the farmer and impaired milk quality. To improve the control of contagious mastitis pathogens, knowledge of reservoirs and transmission is cr...

Prevalence of Bovine Mastitis Pathogens in Bulk Tank Milk in China

The objectives of this study were to estimate the herd prevalence of major mastitis pathogens in bulk tank milk (BTM) in China dairy herds, to determine the relationship between the presence of mastitis pathogens and bulk tank milk somatic cell counts (BTSCC), and to investigate the impact of different dairy cattle farming modes and region on bacterial species. BTM samples collected from 894 da...

Pathoproof Mastitis Pcr Assay and Sensitivity Validation of a New Test Kit for Rapid Identification of Staphylococcus Aureus, Streptococcus Agalactiae and Mycoplasma Bovis from Bovine Milk

PathoProof Mastitis PCR Assay is a rapid and accurate system for identifying mastitis pathogens from fresh or preserved bovine milk. The system includes: 1) reagent kits; 2) a real-time PCR instrument, i.e. the machine using the reagent kits for analysis of the milk samples; and 3) software for automated interpretation of the results. Rapid and efficient identification of the severe contagious ...
